The Eternal Quest for Answers

Michael A. McGuire

Nothing ever said or questioned is a
concept totally new!  Be it by word, phrase
or even a thought, our ancestors wondered
too.

We are but defenders of that quest, the
keepers of the flame. It may smolder through
ages of dictatorship and ash, but it'll always
be relit again!

In the churches and universities, ancient
knowledge is being released and relearned,
but history proves to us that a society possessing
too much is cursed by its own existence.

Is that why government officials order all
all those books of Truth burned?

There are reasons. They secretly call it
CONTROL; but is it really for the good of the
people or themselves, programmers supreme?!

In Truth there IS freedom but it could easily
be turned against you. Sometimes truth and knowledge
can be more frightening than your worst
nightmare!

Society's unwritten laws, that restrict our
rights to think and feel freely, are all part
of Life's most terrifying games, or so we find,
but it's that "Fool" who is not so easily shaken
by these rapers of pride that displays the
most stable intellect, for he alone controls
his own mind!

When a tired soul cries out for the freedom
that truth brings; but darkness blinds him from
the enlightenment which he so desperately seeks,
nothing will keep him down, not a petty law or
a judges frown, for in the end, knowledge will
be his triumph and crown!

Eclesiastes 1:9 there is nothing new under the sun. Nicely written this elaboration on this theme.

I love this - I love the rhythm, the message, the authenticity that reverberated throughout. I love when people try to present an idea of how the universe works or has been working through the medium of poetry. Very effective.
If I had one small critique, it would be to maybe change the alignment as at present the centre alignment makes most of the lines overspill, and it (honestly this may just be me) needs re-reading, interrupting the flow. Again, very nitpicky - I loved the poem

Appreciate it! It seems like we both enjoy writing about the darker side of humanity; which always has more to express and reveal. Happy and Love poems are a piece of cake because the light is already shining upon them, automatically revealed. It's the darker side of Life we're all ashamed of that we conceal that needs considering and reflection before getting past ourselves.

        EXACTLY!

As far as the alignment goes. It’s probably best on larger screen (laptop/IPAD) or by turning iPhone horizontal from what I’ve noticed anyway.
