The Last Tie, Lost

Anna Wakey29

Through everything

Everything

I always had the last connection.

The last breath before sinking,

The last finger on the sill before falling.

The last oasis in the desert,

The last step before the cliff.

That connection was so dense and enveloping

The fog shrouding everything around it.

When it was severed

Cut

Dropped

Left

And the mist dissipated

All I saw

Was nostalgic desperation.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I recently went through incredible emotional turmoil, and lost something I realised I had been clinging to for all the wrong reasons. Not a relationship or anything involving romance, something that should be unconditional.

A poem of disillusionment and sadness over loss. Well done

      Kind words as always 🙂

You actually feel the falling demise in this poem, which usually means family or a good friend.
Sometimes you've just got to hold your head up high and move on.

Hit the nail on the head!
