Ambiguity

sorenbarrett

Wound tear                             hurt or turn                                 rip or cry

Wind rail                              blow or roll                                 denounce or track

Battery rear                         electric or strike                          behind or stand up

Patient nail                          invalid or tolerant                       spike or fingernail

Minute date                        small or time                                day or fruit

Polish bear                          nationality or paint                       animal or endure

Duck grate                          bird or dip                                     shred or grid

Close a tear                         shut or near                                   rip or cry

Desert fan                           empty or leave                               ventilator or follower

Dove back                           bird or dive                                    rear or return

Right can                            correct or position                           able or tin container

Left slack                            remaining or position                      loose or lazy

Left is right and right becomes wrong.

Right is what is left when what is left becomes right.

The confusion leads to writing or is it righting

A good right SB, or is it write? No ambiguity with KP's dinners - sewage every day and no change there! lol. It's 'orrible in our house at mealtimes. Well it is for KP. Fido and I have roast dinners, strawberries and cream, etc.

Thanks so much for the read my friend I would rather be invited to dinner by you than KP I'm afraid.

How did you format that!? That's quite impressive🙏🕊️

      • sorenbarrett

It did give a bit of problem after pasting it from the word app it all had to be realigned and fount checked and redone. Appreciate the read my friend

That was what I feared. How much work it takes to make it sit right on the page, so to speak.

Got this message out in exam form, beads of sweat were coming down my neck.
I remember the Polish bear who served in the army.

Could he bear to wear polish? Thanks so much Paul for the read and remark on this bit of frivolity.

My friend, I love wordplay that makes me stop and reconsider words I've used my whole life without thinking about them. This was a fun mental workout from beginning to end. Wonderful write, Soren. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

Thanks my friend homographs and homophones have always intrigued me, both as to how they ever developed in the first place where one sound is used for two completely different things or where a word spelled the same is pronounced different for a different object. Just a little wordplay on a rainy day the most challenging part was working out the format from my word app to the one on the site.

Well written, your poem is to provoke thought about the nature of language and communication. By illustrating how meanings can shift and overlap, the poet invites readers to reflect on their own understanding of words and the potential for misinterpretation in everyday communication. To me, the central idea of "Ambiguity" revolves around the complexity and duality of language and meaning. It explores how words can have multiple interpretations, leading to confusion and misunderstanding. This multiplicity reflects the intricacies of human thought and communication. I myself am very guilty of this.

Thank you Friendship for your review of this piece and the understanding of its interpretation. It is most appreciated my friend.

Words twist like loose wires here—sparking meaning, then cutting it clean before you can grab hold.
You make confusion feel deliberate, like language itself is cracking its knuckles and picking a fight.

                  • sorenbarrett

Thank Thomas you put it well and indeed it often is more accustomed to a succor punch than a direct fight. I deeply appreciate your feedback my friend

Cleverly written, the poem uses ambiguous words to show that meaning depends on interpretation. It reminds me that both language and human behavior require interpretation. Just as a word's meaning depends on its pronunciation, a gesture's meaning depends on its context. In both cases, meaning comes from more than what is immediately seen or heard.

                    • sorenbarrett

Thank you Soheil you have hit on the key component of it my friend context is everything and to those with eyes closed to this misinterpretation occurs. Your words are most appreciated
