i’ll never love you again,
because i am a lover,
not because i hate you,
when i am a lover with or without a hand to hold,
i’ll love everyone,
pride myself using the sun,
remind them all why they’re alive,
make them feel what they haven’t felt,
since they were a watchful child,
because love isn’t what you show,
it’s what you reflect,
the neglect of your mind and soul,
is how grey came your way,
so i’ll never love you again,
because i am a lover,
not because i hate you.

Passion a frequent visitor while love is a rare commodity and found only once or twice in a lifetime it lucky. Well done
Marissa, this really moved me. What begins as what sounds like a farewell gradually becomes something much larger...a declaration that love is an identity, not a possession. That shift gives the poem a beautiful sense of freedom. Wonderful write. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
