When Elvis raised
A weary hand
To thirteen steps
Goodbye to fans
From tarmac to
The Lisa Marie
Plane door open
Could you not see ?
Head was lowered
The spirit gone
A silent ghost
But still a man
Sadness drenched
Each slow step
The show is over
Do not forget.
As plane takes off
To clouds and sky
Destiny says
A last goodbye
To walls which murmur
Graceland speaks
Trapped by fame
Deprived of sleep.
