Edna

2781

It was Edna's 95th birthday

She said to her two oldest friends

For my birthday can we visit lands end

Yes they said

That might be fun

But on the trail people began to run

Suddenly a flasher

Jumped out of the ruff

Two had a stroke

Edna wasn't fast enough.

Poor Edna or maybe not. A fun read with rhyme and rhythm a good beat so to speak.

This here is a riddle I must solve: Perhaps Edna was faster than the other two and got her penknife open with the aid of her new high tech dentures?

I Could have got it all wrong (which would be true to form)- a slasher, not a flasher?

Oh Dear. Unlucky Edna. A fun piece, as the other two might have said. 😁

What a fun little write, Valiantstar. You lull the reader into expecting a wholesome birthday adventure, then veer straight into absurd comedy. That contrast is exactly what makes the punchline work. Thanks for the laugh, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was a risky departure!
