How Do You Do Anger

Anthony Hanible

You enter

The room of it

Slow

Low glow

Soft shadow

A question

You’re not sure

You want

To know.

You track it

Like prints

In the dust

Thin trust

Cold gust

A riddle rising

From rust

That says

Follow me

If you must

You hold it

Like a clue

In your fist

Tight twist

Fog kissed

A cipher

That insists

There’s something

You’ve missed.

You speak it

In rhyme

To keep it

In line

Fine spine

Dark sign

A whisper

That walks

The borderline

Between

Yours

And mine.

You chase it

Through halls

That shift

Walls drift

Lights lift

Each turn

Another gift

From a ghost

With a grudge

And a myth

You face it

When the maze

Goes still

Soft thrill

Sharp chill

The moment

You learn

Its will

Is only

As strong

As the breath

You fill

And then

You let it

Fade

Blade laid

Heat stayed

A secret

You’ve finally

Unmade

This poem speaks to me of the various ways that we handle stress and problems. Nicely written in rhyme
