I'm Married Now

Anthony Hanible

Small ring

Big vow

A quiet shift

In the shape of now

I walk different

Straighter

Like the road finally

Agreed

To stop fighting me

There’s a softness

In the air

Not weakness

But a warm armor

I didn’t know

I could wear

My name feels heavier

Truer

As if the world

Finally heard it

The way I meant it

And love

That old wild river

Runs calmer

Deeper

Carving a home

Instead of a wound

I’m married now

Not trapped

Not tamed

Just held

In a way

That lets me rise
