A footprint
Deep in snow
A lowered sun
Which seemed to know
The loneliness
With tearfilled eyes
The leafless trees
The heavy skies.
Solitude
A hanging coat
A deep love
Which left a note
A farewell of steel
Shuddering words
Like falling stones
A voice unheard.
The numbness
Of feet in snow
Ignored by sorrow
Each movement slow
An empty space
Save scavenging birds
An icy breeze
A battered curse.

still waiting lol
Rhyme and near rhyme in short metered lines give this piece a mantra like or incantation like feel. Nicely done
thanking you always much appreciated friend
You are most welcome Norman
An elegant and very expressive composition !
Wow, Norman, this is one deeply haunting poem. The winter landscape becomes almost unbearably human…cold, tearful, and abandoned beneath a sky that witnesses everything but intervenes in nothing. Brilliantly devastating work, my friend! 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
very kind, many thanks always appreciated
