Disappear:
If i disappeared, what would you say? Would you lie about how you miss me, or would you forget so easily?
If I escaped by the skin of my teeth, would you come find me? Because by the time you would the bugs would’ve chewed through my body, tasting my unrequited love and your undeniable contempt.
Would you have stared into the eyes of my corpse, in all of its rotting glory? Would you have told me the truth, even if I couldn’t hear it? Or would you have stayed back and watched, like you always did.
If you felt even a slight amount of guilt, would you have had the guts to admit it? Would you have spotted all the signs of me, the versions you can’t bring back? The one you couldn’t love?
The one you couldn’t apologise to?
The one you couldn’t apologise to? The one you can’t apologise to?
You can’t open that door, you know that. But if you could, what would you do? If it were a room full of everyone you’d ever met, would you run to me? Or would you hesitate and leave?
I guess what I’m trying to ask, is if i disappeared,
Would you even notice?
