On the Face

eckardcb

Spirit, I need you—won’t you come
Rushing in, splash your water on
The face of my apathy,
Jar me—awaken me

Water crashing on the face
Of complacency—frozen—in place,
Icy water melts on cheeks
And seeps to lips waking up to speak

Splash your water on the face
Of my comfort—lazy haze,
Lulled by drowning in enough
Eyes gently closed in fortress of stuff

Draw me out of the familiar place,
Disrupt lies written on the face
That dull my desire to dig deeper still,
Come, splash water on the face of my will
