What now?
Sitting here, an empty room silent,
But for my heart it aches.
I pray the words said weren’t meant,
Never in life thought I could break.
So deeply into a thousand pieces,
The weight of the hammer holds.
“This is all my fault” the voice says,
A burden we carry, into his arms I fold.
“What now?” I ask in tears,
In his hands he holds my fears.
Gentle with me while I tear up his world,
With each word, against him I’m curled.
The steady beat of his racing heart,
Slowly he keeps me from falling apart.
The bond of a sibling, worth more than gold,
Richer than ever, comforting words I’m told.
This heart, while not yours to soothe,
You do so with nothing to prove.
A challenging night,
Brings what it might.
My protector, my comrade, my brother.
I could live without all others.
“What now?”
Now I go to my brother.

Sibling relationships can be very supportive. Blood is thicker than water they say. A lovely write of despair relieved by a brother. Very nicely written
You’re so right. Thanks so much!
