Inversion
They say,
Let us get through winter,
while winter passes through us.
Let us leave hardships behind,
though hardships sweep through us.
Let us outrun our shadows,
though our shadows pull us along.
Let us quench our thirst,
yet the river drinks from our thirst.
Let us fall in love,
but love surrounds us like air.
Let us be truthful,
though truth flows through us.
Let us be kind,
though kindness wells up within us.
And we,
amidst this inversion,
are still
standing,
like an earth
that does not know
which way
the sky is.
Perhaps
another name
for inversion
is life.

A most interesting poem where word play takes first place where meanings invert (what we go through goes through us, leaving behind what goes though us, out running what pulls us along, Quenching our thirst with what drinks from our thirst, An inversion (reversed, upside down, inside out) what better title than this. What a wonderful line "standing like an earth that does not know which way the sky is. Being surrounded by sky it is in all directions. Thought provoking work Soheil
