Inversion

They say,

Let us get through winter,
while winter passes through us.

Let us leave hardships behind,
though hardships sweep through us.

Let us outrun our shadows,
though our shadows pull us along.

Let us quench our thirst,
yet the river drinks from our thirst.

Let us fall in love,
but love surrounds us like air.

Let us be truthful,
though truth flows through us.

Let us be kind,
though kindness wells up within us.

And we,
amidst this inversion,
are still
standing,

like an earth
that does not know
which way
the sky is.

Perhaps
another name
for inversion
is life.

وارونگی

می‌گویند

زمستان را بگذرانیم
درحالی که زمستان از ما می‌گذرد

سختی‌ها را پشت سر گذاریم
حال آنکه سختی‌ها ما را در می‌نوردند

از سایه‌مان پیشی بگیریم

گرچه سایه مارا به دنبال خود می‌کشد

تشنگی را فرو بنشانیم

لیک رودخانه از تشنگیِ ما می‌نوشد

عاشق شویم
اما عشق چون هوا ما را فرا می‌گیرد

صادق باشیم
ولی صداقت در ما ساری می‌شود

مهربان باشیم
منتها مهربانی در ما می‌جوشد

و ما
در میانهٔ این وارونگی
هنوز
ایستاده‌ایم
مثل زمینی
که نمی‌داند
آسمان
کدام سوست

شاید
اسمِ دیگرِ وارونگی
زندگی باشد
