Lottie's dress-up game !

noahguernot

« It’s time for dress-up game ! Cover your wounds,

Change 6 times, and call it a day ! »

And she laughs in the musty attic,

The highest tower of a crooked house.

Throughout the swamps, you can hear her singing,

The alligators bathing begin to smirk :

“Oh, it’s Lottie’s dress-up game !”

Dresses, tights, scarves, and pants,

Shirts, mittens, bras over tank tops,

Cardigans, jackets, glasses, and heels,

There are 18 hours in a day before Mom comes home again.

She doesn’t dress for anyone but herself,

Each time she looks into the mirror she sees somebody else,

It makes her laugh and sometimes cry,

Sad kids desperately long to be things they cannot.

13 years old girls just want to pass time,

From the moment you wake up to the time you have to lock the doors,

You can be whatever the others are :

From the animals outside to the other students,

From your strange neighbours to your own parents.

Once the sun declines, it’s time for the show,

Lottie begins her special numéro.

The audience starts its applause,

She rips the curtains and stands alone :

« Pull your lover, kiss his cheek,

Smack his ass, and send him home !

Whatever he is, you can be twice,

If he’s really pretty and nice, he shall forever be your swan. »

The Stag always throws her the same artifical flower bouquet,

Though he doesn’t even understand all that nonsense, at least it rhymes.

She’s happy, that seems like enough.

She throws kisses to her beloved plushies,

And thanks them for being such a good public.

She hasn’t been to school in a long time now,

Words are just words and you can put them wherever you want,

Order doesn’t matter as long as you’re having fun,

Lottie sure does, that’s why her mom lets her.

At 11 AM, she knows it’s time to say goodbye.

Lottie retreats to her room as soon as she sees the headlights.

While closing her eyes and pulling up the sheets,

She already thinks about what her next outfits will be.
