A cracked vessel such as I might hold water for a time
Though it will always flow out again
Like breathing
But wasteful and needless
So why do I keep pouring more in
When I will never have any to offer
To pretend that I am whole

I heard that in Japan cracked vessels are seen as beautiful. To stop them leaking they fill the cracks with gold. You need proper wealth to apply the analogy to a soul.
Such metaphoric meaning in this well worded poetic lesson a fave
