Tristan Robert Lange

Notice of absence from Tristan Robert Lange
Life is full of seasons. This is a season of transition for me, where I will be moving with my family to a new location. As such, with much logistics to consider, I am doing my best to keep up. Please know if I accidentally don't respond, it is not because I am ghosting or becoming distant. Once things settle after the move, I am sure life will return to some normalcy. In the meantime, and always:

Read πŸ‘“, Write ✍️, Rise πŸŒ…, Realize 🀯.

Tristan πŸŒΉπŸ–€πŸ™πŸ•―οΈπŸ¦β€β¬›
Love is love; hate is not love.
Offended are those who hate.
No one is perfect—
None—we’re all contradictory.
It is not sin to be born different.
Errancy is inerrancy’s evangelistic end.

  • Comment from author about the poem: An acrostic Scorched Sunday poem. Part of my Scorched Strays collection. This poem reflects on the irony of Christian movements embracing a person’s spiritual gifts while condemning the difference embodied by the person who carried them.

Frisbee on the church lawn will ruin its front-facing presentation. So, Lonnie has to be sacrificed.

    • Tristan Robert Lange

Oh, damn, arqios…there it is! πŸ† Certified best comment, mate! Preserve the respectable image, discard the inconvenient human being, then carry on enjoying everything he gave you. Oh and make a film celebrating yourselves and committing the sin all over again, posthumously. Yay, evangelical Christianity! You drove this one straight through the sanctuary wall, my friend! 🀣 πŸ₯πŸ”₯πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ™

This is why most churches have closed and become disco's now, which is very ironic in a way
Maybe that's the way to get people together.
If someone saves your life, do you care if they're gay, I wonder.

      • Tristan Robert Lange

Much appreciated, Paul! Perhaps the dance floor succeeded where the pulpit too often failed...because grace does not become less holy when offered by a queer person. Thanks, my friend. πŸ₯πŸ”₯πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ™

A short but powerful piece that challenges the easy labels we place on each other and asks us to look deeper than judgment.
There’s a raw compassion hereβ€”a reminder that every human heart carries contradictions, wounds, and the need to be understood.

        • Tristan Robert Lange

Thank you so much, Thomas! Indeed. Lonnie’s gifts were welcomed while his full humanity was denied...and as someone who has lived beyond other people’s categories, I could not encounter his story without saying something. I’m grateful this reached you, my friend. πŸ₯πŸ”₯πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ™

It is often that people confuse even the extremes of love and hate and when wires are crossed there is usually a short circuite

          • Tristan Robert Lange

Absolutely, Soren! Intensity can disguise itself as devotion...but whatever leaves another person burned and discarded has already betrayed its source. Much appreciated, my friend. πŸ₯πŸ”₯πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ™

              Always a pleasure my friend

              Irony and hypocrisy

              • Tristan Robert Lange

Exactly, Norman! Welcoming what he offered while casting him aside is precisely what scorched this one into being. Thanks, my friend. πŸ₯πŸ”₯πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ™

                  most welcome friend

                • Friendship

Well said. Your poem explores the contrast between love and hate, emphasizing that love is an inherent and universal quality, while hate is a rejection of this principle. You seem to suggest that differences among individuals should not be seen as sinful but rather as a natural part of humanity. It promotes acceptance and understanding of human contradictions.

                  • Tristan Robert Lange

Thank you so much, Friendship! You received this exactly as I intended...any faith that requires us to diminish another person has abandoned grace entirely. I will always stand beside those denied their full dignity. Much appreciated, my friend. πŸ₯πŸ”₯πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ™

So now Popeye and Co are playing frisbee throwing?! lol.

                    • Tristan Robert Lange

Apparently so, Orchi! Popeye has the forearms for one hell of a drive and I am not sure it's just because of the spinach! Speaking of which, what episode are the Baters up to now? Glug. 🀣 πŸ₯πŸ”₯πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ™

Oh, about 5 million episodes I reckon. Brollies needed! lol. What ARE we talking about? WCAT!!

                        Shortcut somewhere, pppppplleeeaase
                        h... Eeeellllp 🀣

                        • Tristan Robert Lange

Teddy, here comes the shortcut! 🀣 I know you’re not Christian, but the film "Jesus Revolution" is actually a well-made and accessible introduction to the American Jesus Movement and its polished, Christian-approved version of Lonnie Frisbee. Then look up Lonnie’s full story, especially what that movement eventually did to him…the film, OF COURSE, never goes there. That gap is where the poem lives. πŸŒΉπŸ–€πŸ™πŸ•―οΈπŸ¦β€β¬›

I will happily look, you know I'm not a member of any religions however each to their own, ah I just read about him, sad way to go a bit like Freddy Mercury in many ways. πŸ’œ

                            • Tristan Robert Lange

Yes, I do know...but did think you would appreciate his story. Glad you looked him up, my dear friend. I discovered him through the film, which naturally made me curious about him. Then I did the research and...well...yeah. Sad, indeed. And yes, religion aside, Lonnie and Freddie share the same brutal historical pattern: queer men whose extraordinary gifts were eagerly embraced by the wider culture or community while their full humanity remained unacceptable to many of the same people, making Lonnie a fitting subject for one of my Scorched Strays. Thanks again, Teddy! πŸ’œ

Bravo bravo Tristan, you have very much empathy and compassion. I do believe none of us should be judged for our beliefs and preferences but here we are in 2026 and something's have changed others have stayed in the eighteen hundreds of course if people continue to be ignorant it's a harder life for those who are different but racism, fascism sexism homophobia has no space in my life. 🌹 Keep up the beautiful work my friend. πŸ’œ

                                • Tristan Robert Lange

Hear hear! No place in my life either, dearest friend. You have that same compassion and empathy, Teddy and I appreciate you greatly! πŸ’œ

This clever poem certainly made me think.I have struggled with hate and love which I see as a twin edged sword. The christian irony is clear and a certain struggle for many. Well written compadre

                                  • Tristan Robert Lange

Thank you so much, David! I recognize those competing impulses within myself, too...which is precisely why I believe grace must always overcome condemnation. I deeply appreciate your time and honesty, my friend. πŸ₯πŸ”₯πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ™
