Come, walk in my shoes
You stand upon the outer wall,
Where winds are mild and skies are clear,
And watch the way I rise and fall,
Quick with a verdict, harsh and near.
You call it pride, you call it stone,
A cold neglect that looks away,
Unknowing of the heavy bone
That cracks beneath the quiet day.
It is so simple from afar
To chart the course you’ve never run,
To count the scars and name the star,
Unscorched by such a blinding sun.
Come down and take this jagged place,
And feel the anchor on your chest;
Look upward with a tightened face,
And tell me where you’d find your rest.
You’d find no stubbornness in me,
No haughty wall, no careless art—
Just breath retained against the sea,
Just armor sealing up a heart.
For endurance is no gilded crown
Bestowed upon the strong and brave;
It is the stone that pulls you down,
The weight you carry to the grave.
And if you ever stand right here,
Where shadows choke the vital air,
You’ll shed the judgment and the sneer,
And learn just what it takes to bear.

A beautiful write
Thank you
most welcome friend
A wonderful poem wet with good rhyme of one that feels that no one can feel what they feel since no one wears their shoes. Well done my friend
Thank you
You are most welcome my friend
Good write F.
Thank you
I would walk in your shoes, but I'm a different shoe size! lol. (I wish I would shut up sometimes. lol).
An able poet can beautifully express the profound truth that genuine understanding begins when we stop judging others from afar and try to walk in another person’s shoes.
Thank you
You are welcome.
Plenty out there who think they can walk the walk, talk the talk.
Then the time comes to actually do it, and they're left wanting.
Thank you, Paul
Love it! Thank you for sharing.
My dear friend, I know what it is to have others interpret your survival from the comfort of their distance. Compassion begins when judgment ends…and this speaks that truth powerfully. Wonderful write! 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Nice write
Fabulous work.
to walk a mile in another's shoes takes more than just guts and compassion .. and it more than just hints at the desire or intention to feel another's pain .. I guess that's why not many folk volunteer to do it these days .. sadly we have a deficit of role models .. still I hope some of the old values may return eventually .. this by the way is an incredibly well composed poem that not only reads well but looks pretty on the page .. Bravo .. Neville
🙂 lovely
i can feel it the death too
