Does a bird know its purpose
when it takes to the sky?
Does it ponder its meaning
while circling high?
Does it covet the feathers
on the other birds’ wings?
Or is it content with familiar things?
Such were my questions
’neath the tree where I sat
and such were the thoughts
of my chittering cat.

I believe they don't and what a beautiful flow! A breath of fresh air as I look on to tomorrow
A wonderful pondering poem. It personifies the cat. At the same time it shows our arrogance in thinking that we are something special that no other animal thinks as we think. This is of course true because they are not human but it assumes a sense of superiority which is not true but only a perspective that our difference is the best one. Very nicely done.
Fränz, what a wonderfully thoughtful and charming poem! All that existential wondering…only to discover your feline companion may have been contemplating lunch. 🤣 Loved this, my friend! 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
