Desert

Norman Flagtea

He had no choice

but prepare for the cold night.

The car wouldn't go any further

and nobody would come by

this time of night.

Not on this gravel road

through the desert.

He tried to crouch

on the rear seat

but couldn't go to sleep.

So he got out,

found a spot near the Jeep

and lay down.

He wrapped himself in a blanket

thank God he'd brought one

and listened

to the majestic and absolut quiet.

And when he looked up

to the immense dark sky

he saw an ocean of stars

above him.

He stared and stared.

Great imagery in this write where it feels open and free. Nicely done
