Morning Dew

A.N.

Morning dew kisses a rose.
The sun lights up the moon.
A bee pollinates a flower.
The rain refreshes the earth.
The birds sing a song to Mother Nature as she wakes.
Everyone has someone to say something to.

But I'm awake in the morning, singing myself a song,
wondering where you are,
thinking of what we would've been if we had lasted.

Understanding that things happen for a reason,
I wish I could've been someone to your something.

And I wish I could've held your hand,
maybe hugged you before bed.

I wonder if we would've been better friends
from the beginning,
because you said something, and I was your someone.

But when my turn came,
my breath was tight,
my voice was faint,
and my words never came out,
the way we had both planned.

I hope you still get kisses from the dew,
the warmth of the sun,
a bee that sits on your hand,
or a bird that sings to you.

I know you'll have someone to your something.

It just wasn't who we had planned.
