MURMUR

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

Can you hear ?
Yes but faintly
Footsteps in
The empty room
A murmur
Not a sigh
Amongst the dust
And falling gloom.

A certain flicker
Of the lights
In the corridor
That leads
To the whisper
Of your doubts
A heartbeat
Gently breathes.

Ever closer
To your fears
Locked within
A frozen dream
Reaching for
The door handle
Slowly turning
To reveal !

Line by line the tension builds like footsteps coming toward a closed door anticipation builds. And as the knob turns the film ends. Nicely written Norman

Fear and self-doubt creep up and mumble almost like a spectre. 🙏🏻🕊️

Wow, Norman, what a wonderfully eerie piece. The gradual pacing draws us further into the suspense, while that abrupt ending leaves the imagination to supply something far worse than any explanation could. I’ve always loved horror that understands the unseen frightens us most. Brilliantly handled, my friend! 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

    A fine write N.
At the start I thought this was about you waiting for that bus! lol. A murmur? Any chance? Can it be..... a bus?
