Annalise has just finished counting the earnings of the day! She’s always loved Spring and Summer obviously; it’s when she’s most busy and time just seems to keep slipping away. She tried keeping Sweet Treats open throughout all seasons; it didn’t work out; most people in Vermont love snowboarding and or skiing! She has a side job as she loves writing. Annalise has put her work out there; she’s not giving up trying. Abe arrives just as she was getting ready to walk out the door. They stare at each other for what seems like eternity; “good evening Anna; Abe says not taking his eyes off her. Anna lets him in; and he begins to explore. “Don’t you think we should talk before you just waltz back into my life?” She asks; noticing every detail of him. “Tell me; what do you recommend Annalise? And I’d be happy to oblige.” “I’m not cooking anything for you. “You must’ve lost your mind.” “I told you; I close at nine.” Abe takes a good long look at her and for the first time he can see; he owes his best friend a true apology. “Look; I’m sorry for the rotten things I said the day you left town; the truth is Annalise; I’ve missed you and I hope we can try to work things out.” Annalise was already in the kitchen cooking up a the best burger for her dear friend; of course for herself she has chosen; salad with grilled chicken.” “So a nurse and a cook; you certainly made a good life for yourself.” “Well look at you Abe; a carpenter with his own business; it fits you perfectly if I do say so myself.” Annalise fills him in on her giving up nursing after Covid; Abe wasn’t surprised at her story; it’s not the first time he’s heard it. But hearing it from Anna was different as this was/is his best girl. And in that moment he wanted to protect her from the world. The radio was on and it wasn’t before long; you’re still the one played; and they stared at each other and said; “it’s our song!” Abe asks her to dance and Anna accepts his invitation; Abe takes her by the hand; and each of them feel the same electric sensation. Anna fully sees Abe for the man he has become; years have gone by; but their new life has just begun! There’s one more part to this story of mine; so I’ll see you all hopefully one more time.
