The Dimming

Syd

Criss cross pattern contrails
Overhead on a sunny pleasant day
There's an apprentice at work who swears
That suncream turns you gay

'Awake' patriots and anti-vaxxers
Who 'research' whilst sat on the can
If you dare to question their flawed logic
Toys are hurtled from their pram

Demonising migrants
Projecting blame onto others
Nationalist protectors of women and kids
Somehow defending the Tate brothers

When there's genocide and starvation
There's misdirection of anger instead
The only dimming going on
Is to the light bulb in their heads

The de-evolution of humans
Swept by the tide of algorithm fools
Evolving backwards becoming slime
Now simple cells in primordial pools

Far right freaks and agitators
Slurring conspiracies like they're drunk
They really are a 'special' breed
As thick as elephant spunk

  • Comment from author about the poem: Apparently there's a 90 minute YouTube video titled The Dimming about cloud seeding. There's also support for the Tate brothers protesting their innocence. Both viewpoints have one thing in common.

    Right wing left wing
They are all part of the same bird
    Can't trust any of them
Topical and brave subject to address
    Kudos syd

Hi Peto, yes both extremes can be pretty bad. I don't go around waving Palestinian flags or getting upset over which pronouns are used to describe someone. I would describe myself as to the left of centre but that certainly doesn't mean my views are correct. Everyone is entitled to their own, I just make observations.

Hope you're keeping well mate πŸ‘

          Thank you so much Sorenbarret.

            You are most welcome

Semi automatic click on the title (too early in the morning), picture pops up – what?? Who?? It’s Syd, so I can enjoy (if that’s the right word) your take down.
Trouble is, it should be easy to pull the plug on them (there are enough delusional nutters in the world anyway), the problem, as you so rightly point out, happens to be the number of clowns (men) who take notice…

            • Syd

Hi Dave, I'm glad you enjoyed this one. I must sound like a complaining bitter soul at times with some of my writes but I can only write what inspires me.

I've just written another story / song while on the plane on my way back from holiday so I'll be working on something completely different over the next few days. I've been away for over a week so I'll be catching up on other poet's writes too, including your good self.

              Take care mate πŸ‘

I very occasionally complain too, you know!🀣

Looking forward to your next piece, Syd - someone has to help the community column along; so I'm pleased you will. I'm in low activity mode at present (lack of inspiration).

My friend, satire is at its strongest when it commits to its voice, and this certainly does. I found myself chuckling more than once, even while feeling the exasperation underneath it all. Great job on this. πŸŒΉπŸ–€πŸ™πŸ•―οΈπŸ¦β€β¬›

Thank you so much Tristan. I'm glad you enjoyed this one and it resonates with you. I'll be heading over to your page for a catch up as I've been away for a week.

They all want their message out there.
Guy does a shit in Outer Mongolia, someone's got an opinion on it.
Just wait till AI really gets going. If you think it's bad now, you aint seen nothing yet.

                  • Syd

Hi Paul, yes I can imagine things only getting worse.
