The Thundering Outside

syeda

The closest thing to silence
is the loudest thing in your ears.

Something that drowns out everything else

steadily,

gradually.

So i sit in the tub if im too tired
most times im able to stand
right beneath the shower head.

Let the water run down my body
Perhaps it cools me off
maybe it's silky texture

is distraction enough

but i know
that i am mostly

looking for more noise
that isnt

the thundering outside.

    The message comes through clearly.
Sometimes what isn't good for us actually keeps us going.

Your first post and what an opening lie! My first thought was the only silence I know is the one I don't get to feel as sleep is like a blink that sometimes I wish I could feel. Very deep and beautifully written! Thank you for sharing. Much peace and respect 🙏 🫡

Interesting juxtaposition of silent with loud and nicely imaged. Well done
