Time
ticking away without us even noticing
our lives shorten with each movement of the hands
silence leaving the world as technology takes over our senses
selling ourselves to millions of people we don’t even know
believing lies and slowly killing the love we had for ourselves
listening to others talk about a life we wish we had
of fame and money
sex and pleasure
supposed joy
but those people never mention the sadness inside
the fact that they are just as lost and empty as the rest of us

Richard Cory is a poem about such a man that leaves the reader questioning the value of riches and power and so is this. Nicely written it speaks to envy that we all have of alluring aspects of life. Well written
