Living power

sorenbarrett

Brief moments when a soldier turns into God, a traveler is Ulysses, an athlete Hercules.
When the crowds bow, an actor has become his part, a poet is the poem and in that brief second one is immortal.

Take the bow while you can, it will only be a brief time in life.
How many times have we said to ourselves. I was there when it happened.

Thanks Paul your review and words are most valued and appreciated. Indeed it is true.

How beautifully you use mythology as a metaphor for those moments when ordinary people transcend themselves, expressing the idea that true greatness comes from fully embodying one's purpose, and that achievements reached in this way become unforgettable.

One word about you: your human warmth shines through not only in your poems but also in your comments. That makes you something rare today—a genuinely caring human being. I noticed this in your response to a poem that lacked imagery; your own comment was rich with imagery, making your criticism both instructive and creative. At times, it seems that you write poems not merely as an outlet for your emotional burdens or inner conflicts, but from a deep sense of responsibility toward others. That, to me, is a rare and admirable quality.

You kind words humble me and your generosity moves me Soheil. You seem an embodiment of what you list as others virtues and I thank you for your read and gracious comment. I truly believe that we are all one and that to treat another with kindness is but to treat oneself with that same kindness. We are all literally but cells making up one living life source and why should the eye deceive the ear or the foot betray the hand.

I appreciate the humility and generosity of spirit behind your message, and I feel grateful for the opportunity to share this exchange with someone who conveys such warmth and wisdom.

Soren, what a thought-provoking piece. I love the progression through myth, art, and poetry, all leading to those rare moments when a person seems to become one with their calling. It’s concise, yet it leaves the mind wandering long after the last line. Powerful write, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
