"HIM"

GardenOfEve

The sun does not plead for the night to turn bright,

It waits for the moon to be caught in its light.

Do you ache for my pull like the sand for the sea,

To be moved by the weight and the power of me?

I am Nightfall personified, lean, muscular, and deep,

The shadow where all of your secrets can keep.

You arrive like a crimson king through a forest of red,

A vivid silhouette where the daylight has fled.

You carry the fire that I lent you by day,

But you soften for me when the light fades away.

I can still feel the hours where the world felt so thin,

And I held the only thing real—the heat of your skin.

The sun has to set so the moon can descend,

To find the one heat that he cannot defend.

If you long for an escape where the noise finally clears,

To exist in the silence away from the years,

The latch is left loose and the porch light is low;

Come out of the shade, let the dark world go.

The stars are all waiting, the sky is wide open,

To mend every promise that’s ever been broken.

Step out of the gloom where the cold shadows climb,

And come to my arms, even if we can’t pause the time.
