I love this it is so identifiable where a poem will alight and just as soon be gone before it can be written down. Lovely
Sadly, yes this happens to me all too often. Sometimes when I'm drifting off to sleep I will come up with some, surprisingly to me, pretty good poetic lines and I think 'you know I should probably get up and write it all down' but then I think nah I'll remember it in the morning. Sleep has a funny way of stealing things that don't belong to it. Hah, anyway, the above poem was the result of just such a faux pas. As soon as I put pen to paper the poem I had brilliantly composed disappeared right into the ether. I could recall none of it. Happily the occurrence beget this poem instead.
Most welcome my friend what I do is take my I phone to bed with me and when the idea occurs I flick it on and record it for the morning.
