midnight tide

angeloverthemoon

I have always hated the ocean. It's a bitter echo that reminds of what I was.

The ocean taught me what it means to break.

I once drifted into its storms, believing love was a horizon I could reach.

But the waves swallowed me whole,

splintered my faith,

left me gasping silently in the abyss.

Now I stand at the shore again,

your kindness like calm water brushing my feet.

It feels gentle, almost safe

yet I flinch at every ripple,

afraid the tide remembers me,

afraid it will drag me back into the wreckage I escaped.

You are not the storm,

but the ocean has carved its memory into me.

So I love you with trembling hands,

hoping this time the sea will cradle me,

not consume me.
