Last night was the pool comp, I don't play as a rule: it's a social night for me, and, I don't care if I look like a fool.
I thought it wise to catch the train *in case I sink a few!
Now as I walked from the station I met someone I never knew...
Standing near the stairs, handing out flyers, was a simple young man, wearing a smile: he said,
"Jesus loves you."
I said,
"I know"
Well, his face lights up!
And quick as a flash, said, "God bless you."
I said,
"Thank you"
And that was that, off to the pub to shoot the crap!
Won my first game (and with it a schooner), had a few more (should have left sooner)
Anyway it was a good night, but the blessing on the step was my highlight...
"And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better."
His eyes were soft;
I could read his face:
The simpleton:
Full of love, and grace.
Six words, without delay: on the night; into the day...
The less is blessed by the greater: the greater is not on display.
Entertaining angels?
I couldn't say.

God sure works in mysterious ways, and the guy was only selling love, and free at that.
Sometimes a simple gesture speaks volumes, as two people acknowledge the world together.
A spiritual message in a poem of rhyme. Nicely done
Wonderful write
And I love a game of pool
Straightforward tale simply told, and none the worse for that. Enjoyed the experience.
Valiantsstar, this speaks to me. I’ve had moments where an unexpected conversation ends up becoming the part of the day I remember most. Your poem captures that beautifully…how grace often arrives quietly, without fanfare. Wonderful work, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
