The nation grows, its unity in mind,
A single purpose forged from war’s embrace;
Yet still the states their sovereignty must bind,
Each voice respected in the federal space.
The Constitution frames the guiding base,
While policies extend across the land—
He guides the land with steady, certain hand.
Abroad, the continent asserts its claim,
The Monroe Doctrine sets a firm command;
No foreign power may tamper with its name—
He guides the land with steady, certain hand.
Expansion calls, yet caution tempers will,
New territories join the growing fold;
The Union strengthened, yet respect for still
The balance of the states is closely told.
The legislature and courts uphold the mold,
While every act is weighed and carefully planned—
He guides the land with steady, certain hand.
No pomp of crown nor threat of kingly sway
Disturbs the order he maintains so grand;
The office strengthened by each measured day—
He guides the land with steady, certain hand.
Domestic peace, though tested by debate,
Is largely held beneath his prudent eyes;
The nation strides with confidence and weight,
Its purpose shared, its policies likewise.
The young republic under calm blue skies
Finds growth and hope in vision wisely planned—
He guides the land with steady, certain hand.
The people see a chief whose careful rule
Maintains the balance, liberty, and brand;
A model set for every future school—
He guides the land with steady, certain hand.
Abroad and home, the presidency matures,
Its weight defined by law and prudent act;
Each precedent and every measure ensures
That power flows in ways the law enacts.
Through steady leadership, the nation’s pact
Is safeguarded, broad and firmly spanned—
He guides the land with steady, certain hand.
And as he leaves, the country holds its course,
Its confidence and unity well-planned,
A standard set for all future discourse—
He guides the land with steady, certain hand.
So stands the fifth, whose tenure brings the calm,
A steward of the republic’s growing might;
Through law, through principle, through careful balm,
He sets the nation on a steady height.
The executive’s role now clear in sight,
Its office strengthened, forward-looking, grand—
He guides the land with steady, certain hand.
And Monroe’s example shines for all to see,
Where steady rule and prudence both command,
A measured course for those yet yet to be—
He guides the land with steady, certain hand.
Envoi:
O fifth who held the reins of nascent land,
You shaped the office with a careful hand;
Through law, through vision, by deliberate stand—
He guides the land with steady, certain hand.
