The son of statesmen rises to the chair,
A mind prepared by study, law, and art;
The nation calls for wisdom just and fair,
Yet factions test the office from the start.
The Congress speaks, each voice a careful part,
While policies require both thought and stand—
He steers the land with reasoned, steadfast hand.
No crown bestows authority alone,
No pomp enhances merit’s measured brand;
Through law and principle, the path is shown—
He steers the land with reasoned, steadfast hand.
Abroad, diplomacy defines the age,
Treaties and commerce guided by his skill;
He walks the narrow line, both wise and sage,
Protecting interests with deliberate will.
The young republic watches as he fills
The office with integrity well planned—
He steers the land with reasoned, steadfast hand.
Yet domestic strife cannot be denied,
Faction and party challenge every stand;
He balances the nation’s needs and pride—
He steers the land with reasoned, steadfast hand.
No crown commands him, yet the chief must weigh
The Constitution’s reach in every act;
Through careful thought he shapes both law and sway,
While principles ensure the public pact.
Though partisan resistance seeks to crack
His measures, reason guides what he has planned—
He steers the land with reasoned, steadfast hand.
The executive office grows in clarity,
Its boundaries drawn by law, not whim or brand;
A model formed for future presidency—
He steers the land with reasoned, steadfast hand.
Though only one term marks his tenure here,
The lessons of restraint and foresight last;
A careful hand dispels the tempests near,
And sets a course to steady all the past.
The nation’s course by reason now is cast,
A precedent by which successors stand—
He steers the land with reasoned, steadfast hand.
And thus the sixth continues early ways,
Where intellect and principle command,
And measured acts ensure the republic stays—
He steers the land with reasoned, steadfast hand.
Envoi:
O thoughtful steward of the nation’s strand,
You held the office with a guiding hand;
Through principle and reason’s careful stand—
He steers the land with reasoned, steadfast hand.
