I used to be part of the story,
close enough to touch the plot,
close enough to believe
I would make it to the ending.
Now, I am only a shadow
at the edge of the scene,
watching your life move forward
as though I was never there.
The strangest part
isn’t being forgotten.
It’s remembering
when I was important.

This seems to be a factor of aging as we all grow older we grow less important. Nicely done
