I met tomorrow before yesterday,
and it was yellow,
pink, and green.
Sun rays and trees,
grass and ladybugs.
There was a sweet sound—
voices of love
and raindrops of honey.
It was a relief
and a smile on a pale face.
It was coffee-scented rooms
and wicks burning light.
And I wanted yesterday to hurry up.
But yesterday came,
and it was blue.
The candles weren’t burning,
and smiles weren’t true.
The sun rays were hidden behind clouds,
and all the voices became a fog.
And the rooms that smelled like coffee
smelled old and unsettling.
It made me frown
and question why.
But I remembered tomorrow
and the joyful day ahead,
so I waited patiently
and understood what was written.
And I read the page
that couldn’t be skipped.
And when I fell asleep,
I had no regret,
because I knew tomorrow would be
the rainbow after the storm.
