so long in your words contrived silly phrase
how often in eyes tears,
the destiny gave us the only one chance,
but chose you the dreams next,
the destiny gave us the only one chance,
but chose you the dreams next…
so much can I tell you one moment and now,
no point to lie, see?
but there outdoors are falling leaves down,
so why do you hate them?
but there outdoors are falling leaves down,
so why do you hate them?
no point to stay with desperate dreams,
they never keep you warm,
some funny old lad invented has love,
and made us believe all...
some funny old lad invented has love,
and made us believe all...

The wording itself is of poetic style and from a different era. Well done translations of poetry are always difficult.
many thanks, my dear friend! Right you are, this is actually a song, and this causes some difficulties with balancing the wording within the rhythmic structure, but hopefully this attempt is not a fail)
You are most welcome, songs and poems are often so similar that one can be exchanged for the other as is the case in the song The Rose
Beautiful translation, cellinic...knowing this carries another poet’s words into a new language gives that wistfulness another dimension. There’s something haunting about longing surviving the journey between languages and still feeling so immediate. Thank you for sharing Kartavtsev’s work with us, my friend! 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
thanks a lot, dear Tristan! Right you are, it is rather a difficult work to convey the sense of this journey)
Indeed! You are welcome, my friend.
There’s a bruised, dreamlike sadness here, like someone trying to make sense of a love that destiny handed over and then took away. The repeated lines work like an old wound being pressed again and again—confused, bitter, and still refusing to quite let go.
many thanks, Thomas!
