Red Neck Noise

Michael A. McGuire

I've been thinking...about
doing some drinking...

but if I already had...
I wouldn't have these thoughts
...about pickling my brain with
the booze I bought.

I'd set it aside for another time;
like cleaning that rusty bike chain
all covered in slime; or when my wife
left me for my dog and took my last dime.

O the sweet humanity of it all;
it's so quiet and lonely at night
without my dog's bawls.

It was heavenly music to my ears as
I downed beer after beer after beer
after beer.

Well...I reckon my chicken could stand
a good chokin' so best stand clear.
