The songs of vanished years have faded on the wind
But I can still picture them as if it were yesterday
Echoes of forgotten smiles
An unwritten verse caught upon the wind
Pulling off warm blankets into the cold morning air
Sealed away in a warm shelter of covers
Memories of passed loved ones echoed in the quiet
A piercing melody that soothes the soul it wounds.
Why was their journey cut so short?
The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long
Their voice and laughter feel just a breath away
My only wish is to see their face one more time
Then the storm will pass and the sun will shine
The echo of their voice and the image of their face stay clear through all the passing years
Echos in the quiet they will always be
With a willing heart, I rise from my rest
The songs of vanished years have faded on the wind
