My Father
Who takes my fear and replaces it with an incredible peace
My Father
Who acknowledges my finite existence and elevates it to His eternity
My Father tends to my sickness, and nurtures me from my perishing
He softens the blow of every consequence
And lays my head down softly.
There is no place in the world as safe as my tiny little corner
Cornered in by my enemies
Standing before me the Lion of Judah with nothing but His right hand risen
And a knowing gaze
My Father has safeguarded me from harm
And excused my every provocation
With the invocation of His name
Over my defects and maladies.
There is a selfish desire
A selfish pleasure
In keeping Him so near with my misgivings that He must fulfill His promise
To never forget or forsake me.
I could never be a monk, a sister, or a priest
Because then I would have to live a life so godly
That I wouldn't need Him to fix all of my problems and cast my demons away.
Can you imagine a life so righteous,
That there be no reason The Father can ever cast the blame?
That must truly be so thoughtless, and such an insignificant existence
Where perfection meet grace only half-way
No, I must crash into His arms
I must cry out to the Heavens
To know all the pain and agony
He has cleansed today.
