Sunflower.

antra.coree

I want to be a sunflower.

I truly want to bloom into one.

From the darkest mud,

they rise into bright yellow flowers,

spreading hope wherever they bloom.

They always turn toward the light,

never choosing to face the darkness.

And even when night falls,

they wait with quiet hope,

knowing the sun will rise again.

I want to believe like they do—

that even the darkest night must end,

that every sunrise is worth waiting for.

They are sunflowers,

not the sun.

They do not create the light,

yet somehow they still bring

hope, warmth, optimism,

and quiet joy into people's hearts.

And when I grow older,

I want to face the light too,

just as they keep facing the east.

I don't want to spend my life

asking for validation from the world.

Instead,

I want to find my own source of light,

just like them always facing east.

Sometimes I think

I'm a little like a sunflower.

Just as one sunflower

is made of thousands of tiny flowers,

I am made of thousands of memories,

moments, wounds, lessons, and dreams.

Together,

they make me who I am.

So I hope

that no matter how dark life becomes,

I'll always have the courage

to turn toward the light.

Because I was never meant to become the sun.

I was meant to become a sunflower!

Let your inner light shine! ☺️

A wonderful write that makes an allegory and personifies the sunflower. To face the east where the sun raises is to look for light or knowledge and truth. One is not the truth but one looks for it. Nicely written
