Along the darkened shore,
her subdued heart
asked the darkness, why?
Yet the sea did answer–
embedded in the sand,
wrapped in silken lace,
an old gothic key,
perhaps a charm
She reached through moonlight,
and at its touch
her heart did open
to wonders now begun.
