So close, yet so far,

Like the moon in the sky,

Like the earth beneath a star,

Maybe just like you and I.

So similar, yet so strange,

Like fire turning into ash,

Like water frozen through its change,

Like lightning fading in a flash.

Like shooting stars across the night,

We burn together, then divide,

A moment glowing, burning bright,

Then disappearing with the tide.

We share the same eternal sky,

But never land upon the same place,

You pass like stars that hurry by,

So close to me, yet out of space.

Like earth that waits for falling rain,

Like clouds that never stay,

Two stars that meet, then part again,

And slowly drift away.

Destined to meet, but not to stay,

Meant to grow, then meant to part,

Like raindrops falling on their way,

Just like you and I from the start.
