The gorge

Jessica Childers

I seen you today

We haven’t looked at each other for months

Nervous and a little scared

I sat across from you

You were calm and beautiful like always

This vibe overcomes me when you are around

Stillness like you feel before a storm

With electric tension that gives you goosebumps

It creates a sense of addictive uneasiness

When this happens

We stop looking at each other

If we do look

It’s only a glance

Almost like glancing in the sun at it’s brightest

It hurts because it’s the longing

We both crave the hunger of each other

Steel cages of containment is what saves us

Aching and bleeding out feelings

A suffering resigns in the hollow of the chest

Ridiculously we continue this soul magnetic process

Miserable yet fulfilling

Teetering on the line of love and hate

Living for more days of this with you

Two atoms continuously colliding

Make enough energy for the universe

After only one look
