Our Church

OUR         U R saved!
           R eally?
             C orrupt?
                          H ow about that?

There once was a time when religion could
be defined and there was but one God!

But many years passed and people began to
grow anxious and impatient.  The truth just
didn't cut it anymore!

Temptation and sin ran wild without harness
or chain!

Faith shattered and God became anything a
person truly believed in that would make him
calm and alleviate his troubles and pains!

The Bible was interpreted a hundred different
ways and organizations sprang up preaching
their "truth" and those who were not of them
were sinners, outcasts and evil.

No one was truly right!

Undeniable greed for money and Souls beneath
that false smile and loose handshake of theirs!

Truly Satan's angels beckoning us to give
up everything we ever believed in for a solid
yet unsteady ladder to false salvation!

Give me $100 and I'll save your Soul! Praise
The Lord!

  • Comment from author about the poem: This was written back in the 80s when the PTL club and Jimmy Swaggart scandals were making news but still holds true today, unfortunately. \r\n

Unfortunate and true whether it be religion, meditation, politics, mental health or business money will save you while it condemns you. You can buy a pardon, indulgence, vote or position on the board. For some this is peace of mind but it is temporary. Well done and clever acrostic as well. I rented to a church once that sold land in heaven to its congregation. How much you paid determined how close to God you got. Oh by the way they sold chairs to those that didn't have enough money to buy land.

Thanks and funny response - people are so gullible. If you can make people doubt themselves - you can control them - sad.
