I like lizards

yellow moon

Unwanted visitors, with magical
tails, can't see well-
the fear in bystanders,
bursting out of a mighty history.

Only as tall as 0.5 feet now
hides behind 6 feet doors,
the elegant dancer has
no place anymore.

It feels their frowns, footsteps, fear
around and only knows to
escape. Angry with earth, it
crawls above, away from the

Ground that once collapsed in on
itself. It feels ephemeral
tails, friends, existence, and
still drags on.

  • Comment from author about the poem: People avoid lizards mostly due to fear or disgust. To me, lizards are a representation of all animals that have survived great events of destruction that the Earth has gone throughout its evolutionary life. Lizards are an integral part of the web of life, and it's better to coexist with them instead of chasing them away. I liked comparing its small- almost insignificant- size with large doors (on which they crawl).
