Yo! (Banned)

Donteatmecows

I snuck into the room at Al’s house

And I ate all of the communion

I must have been only five back then

Across from grandma’s apartment was the reunion

Two stories there; falcon in the air

The Protestant Christian meetings

The one light burned while the other was calm

Internationals in the seatings

Older I had a one on one with the pastor

He said “Frankly, that’s disturbing.”

And then I had my clusterfuck by the things I was unlearning

She said “Come back, boy, where are you going?!”

I told her “It’s too scary!”

I was ashamed to admit it

But she didn’t press for Mary

I was scared again of VeggieTales

He explained it

“Yes, I already know.”

My sister and I snickered at him

We both knew he wasn’t cool

Years later we met again

“How much cardio do you do?”

“Hahahahaaaa!” the way we laughed when we annoyed our dad.

And I was banned from saying “Yo!”

They were like “Shut up!” to me and Lucy but we weren’t bad

I was 11 back again with social anxiety

He asked me and I said “Action”

He said “Yeah, the same with me.”

Exposed to porn at way too young it was fucking bad for me

And I biked to work across the street with the music of infinity

He threw me under the bus that day; stuck me behind the wheel

I was nervous “I don’t have my permit yet! What if a cop catches us?!”

He brushed it off “Nah! You’ll be fine!”

And in his truck we both took off!

Funny how those scattered days still echo in the man I feel.
