Trees

Fränz Müller

Trees don’t scream

when we chop them down

or even make a sound;

they don’t even

make a fuss

when we poison ancient ground.

But rest assured

they will laugh last

when the planet falls apart;

they’ll shade our bones

and ignore our moans

and wait for a brand new start.

    Oh yes - that's right on the money I think. the whole of the next phase in a nutshell.
    I enjoyed your directness and brevity.

    Trees having the last laugh is an interesting image reminding me of Avatar. Well done

    I don't think I'll ever see ,
    Resentment more in the form of a Tree.

    Fine write.

    Fränz, this is wonderfully dark and brutally effective. That reversal makes humanity temporary while the natural world becomes the enduring witness...we are foolish to believe nature depends upon us rather than the other way around. Powerful write, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
