PATRIOTISM

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

Its loved by dictators
Presidents and kings
Prime ministers and generals
That word that kills.

But by far and away
Its loved most of all
By the undertakers
Who stand at the door.

This poem is chilling even its form resembling a cross as a grave marker leaves one to shudder. Patriotism has been the rallying call for millennia but seems antiquated now days with a global internet, economy and relations. Isolationists an artifact of an out dated time. Patriotism a means of control.

Got that right. Hear Hear. I'm tired of this argument, have delt with it before. Will contribute no more unless a clown leaps to patriotism's defence...

Norman, this hits with brutal clarity. Political power manufactures the fervor, ordinary families absorb the loss, and commerce waits at the other end…all beneath the disguise of noble devotion. Brilliantly delivered, my friend. πŸŒΉπŸ–€πŸ™πŸ•―οΈπŸ¦β€β¬›
