Dolly's Dead

Shaunmatthewcpoetry

Another icon or idol gone, Dolly's dead,

Was Parton's soul happy or filled with dread?

A scripted reality which is ran on numbers,

Sacrificial lambs chopped up like cucumbers.

Horns are thrown up, watch close the fingers,

Back catalogue at the record company lingers.

Life insurance policies taken out and 365 deals,

The rodeo is over, gone in a whimper, no squeals.

Legends live on but the price for eternal fame?

Was it really worth it, to play the Devil's game?

A woman dedicated to giving to others that never forgot her humble start and could not go on without her husband neglecting her own health in the end. Musician, singer, song writer, business woman an icon a country singer inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame declining saying give the votes to someone that sings rock and roll not me but finally convinced to accept. Well written
