Magic

sorenbarrett

A valley enchanted where four in the shadows turn to six
Noises emerge from wrong places and animals turn into sticks
Choir's notes descend from the forest singing songs that don't exist
Winds carry siren hymns human ears can't resist

Words from the woods, voices of the past
Dissolving in air to reappear over ancient echoes cast
Bouncing beams of light, angel footprints shine bright
Dancing over leaves and ground butterflies erupt into flight

Hold to the trail tight
Out of magic comes the night

The imagery in this is genuinely haunting. “animals turn into sticks” and “butterflies erupt into flight” are such strange, beautiful images, and the whole poem feels like wandering somewhere you really shouldn’t be. Very nice

A very dream like imagery much enjoyed
