Drop The Act

Anthony Hanible

Drop the act

The paper face

The borrowed voice

You learned to trace

Drop the act

The practiced grin

The quiet war

You hold within

Drop the act

The staged reply

The stitched up truth

You let comply

Drop the act

The ghost you wear

Step out of it

And breathe the air

Drop the act

The trembling part

Let silence cut

Straight through the heart

Drop the act

The final lie

The world won’t end

If you defy

Drop the act

The fading role

Come as the wound

Come as the whole

Be who one is, is the message that I get from this write. Nicely framed it tells it clearly. Well done

The last 3 lines could be a haiku on its own…

agree with you here - prefer the straightforward always, even if it's a bitter pill to swallow
